A Landmark Country Inn
Washington County
New York
The Cambridge Hotel is a landmark Washington County New York country inn, located in the heart of the village of Cambridge. Built in 1885, this historic "Train Hotel" originally provided lodging and dining to travelers on the Delaware and Hudson Railroad Line.
In the summer of 1998, the local hotel began a years journey of total restoration. Today you have all the modern conveniences of our time but a turn of the century appearance. Our hotel has been designated as a national historic landmark so that future generations will always be able to enjoy some of the splendor of a bygone era. Each of our seventeen comfortable rooms, includes a private bath, heat, air conditioning, ceiling fan, television and telephone along with a computer hook-up line. No two rooms are the same, each being uniquely decorated Victorian or country style. You will capture the romantic charm and feeling from a time when our hotel was in its splendor.
The Hotel has been under new ownership since June 2007 purchased by a group of local investors who have maintained hope that the Cambridge Hotel will continue to be an important part of the local economy. The renovated bar area has been christened "Tink's Tavern" named after Tink Parrish who was instrumental in bringing the Hotel back from ruin in 1999. Tink's Tavern is a cozy place to have a drink or eat a dinner from the seasonal menu.
The Future looks bright for the Cambridge Hotel. The investor group continues to grow as they work to accelerate the business plan which includes renovating the old 6,000 square foot bowling alley into large event rooms and finishing off the third floor to add another 15 guest rooms. This will complete the property, by adding a large indoor option that nicely compliments the outdoor venue held under a tent in Rail Road Park. The investors' goal is quite simple - to once again establish the Cambridge Hotel and Restaurant as an anchor business for our community, providing a place for all to meet and enjoy the company of friends, hold our special family celebrations and share our great community with those just traveling through or those looking to spend a Holiday enjoying our lively, artistic, agricultural community and the surrounding beauty of our countryside.
